I don't have the Formula AT, just a 1987 Firebird with 305. The relay is located on firewall drivers side. There are 2 that look similiar. Go to this web site for a picture and part number. http://www.rockauto.com/ref/ACDelcoDetail.html?15-8333.jpg

why the relay? check the fan temp switch on the right lower engine block.
