It's located underneath the car, not in the engine compartment, right next to the fuel pump. It's on the driver's side, right behind the front tire underneath a little panel that unscrews w/ a 1/8mm socket. Make sure you get the right filter. Some have one port (opening) in one port out, others have two. My '02 was built in August of '02 and so it has the '03 setup (2 port). Good luck. Don't smoke or use a plugged in light to look at it - go flashlight.
