Your fuel filter is located on the driver's side, underneath your pickup, just behind the transmission and off to the side. It's a round, silver or black cylinder approx 3 -4 inches long with a prong coming out of one end and a nut on the other. First, release the fuel pressure by opening the fuel filler door. Then you replace it by squeezing the quick release plastic clip on the front and sliding the fuel line forward; you then use a wrench to loosen the nut on the back. Be prepared for some gas spillage with a container or some old rags. Once it is loosened, you remove it from its bracket, replace it, hook it back up (reverse of what you did) and it should be good to go. It is not in the gas tank.
Tip:
Unsrew the one side with proper wrench and on quick clip side squeeze the plastic ears together tightly and push them toward the filter than quickly pull away. I hate those things.
