I have a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis and the fuel filter is under the passenger side rear door right inside of the frame.I've recently had to find it and replace it.Took about 1 hour to find and 5 minutes to replace. The fuel line comes out of the fuel tank, underneath the car travelling diagonal towards the passenger side of the car.Right before an elbow in the line inside the frame rail, underneath the rear passenger door is your filter.Clips on either end of the filter sort of snap off downward.Tug on them with some force, they'll snap down.Have a pan beneath the area.Wear gloves. The blue rubber work gloves that cost more.Be ready for gas to run out.Don't worry, its only the little bit in the filter.Pull the lines off and discard the filter properly.Put the lines on the new one and put the snaps back on.Start the car to make sure, and run it a little bit. There you go... It is underneath the rear driver side passenger door.
No. A 2001 Jeep does not have a cabin filter.
According to most aftermarket filter manufacturers and e-catalog data, it appears the 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis does not have a cabin air filter. Just to be sure, might be worth a call to the parts dept. of any Ford-Mercury dealer to verify.
