The fusible link on the 93 is in the hot wire running from your positive battery terminal to the starter. It's a piece of wire that runs inside the actual wire that will burn up if the system gets too hot or overloaded.
There is a fuse box on the passenge side of the Jeep, open the passenger fromt door and you will see the door in the dash that is the fuse box. There is also another box under the hood ont the passenger side fire wall.
Not so no fuse box there & under hood on fire wall another no
There should be 2 large red wires that come off of the positive terminal on the battery. One goes to the starter, the other goes to a power distribution block. There should be 3 or 4 wires that appear green or brown and are about 4 or 5 inches long. These wires are the fusible links. They will connect to the distribution block on one end with a terminal connector. At the other end they will be connected to one or several wires inside a fairly large rubber casing.
The Jeep has a fuel pump relay that is located under the hood in the Power Distribution Center. This is a black plastic box with a hinged lid probably located on the left side of the engine compartment. There will be a printed guide as to the position of this relay on the underside of the lid.
There are two different fuse and relay locations on the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The first location is on the passenger side under the hood and directly behind the battery. These are mostly the large 30, 40 and 50 Amp fuses for things like the ABS, Power Seats, A/C and such. There are also some other small fuses and some relays. Open the cover and turn it over for a diagram with the fuse locations and functions.
The second location is on the passenger side below the glove box on the door pillar (in the area next to the feet area on the right side). These are the 5, 10, 15, 25 and 30 Amp fuses for things like the lights, radio, lighter and blower motor. The functions are embossed on the back side of the cover. There are also a collection of small relays inside the cover.
The fusible link is simply a wire that is 2 gauges larger than the wire it is connected to (smaller in size though). So look at the back of your alternator for the large (6 ga) wire and follow it up to the under-hood fuse/power distribution box. Somewhere along it's length you should see a portion where the wire steps down in size: That's your fusible link. Short answer: Positive Wire Between the Fuse Box and the Alternator.
