I've got a 98 Explorer and using a telescopic mirror you can see the code printed on the "brain" in the rear of the vehicle. On the left side, remove the cover where the jack is and beyond the wheel hump you should see a box mounted. There is a sticker on the side with the default code.

One more thing... once you have the code, set up another code to use daily. If someone knows the original code, they can always open your door. The original code cannot be changed. My brother found out the original code and always open my car and sets off my after market alarm. I may just end up unplugging the keypad.
