The mint mark position on all Lincoln cents is under the date, regardless of the design. Possible marks are

"D" = Denver
"S" = San Francisco
no mint mark = Philadelphia

Even though all other coins minted at Philadelphia since 1980 carry a "P" mint mark, the lowly penny does not. The reason is that for a while demand for cents was so high that Philadelphia couldn't keep up even if it ran 24/7, so extra cents were minted at either San Francisco or West Point. Those 2 mints are much smaller so they produced comparatively fewer cents. Denver cents already have a "D", but small numbers of "S" or "W" cents would have been "instant rarities". To prevent hoarding the Mint decided that circulating cents made at all mints except Denver wouldn't have mint marks. The small number of West Point and San Francisco pennies are thus indistinguishable from those made in Philly.
