June 4, 2008 San Diego, CA On my 1933 Wurlitzer 4' 8" baby grand piano, the serial number is visible on the right side of the wooden sounding board, while facing the keyboard. It's carved (impressed?) about 8-10" left of the side of the piano case & about 2" above the wide varnished foundation of the music holder. Other Wurlitzers may have the numbers in other places but your tuner should be able to find it and thereby determine its year of manufacture. "Pierce's Piano Atlas" has a chart determining Wurlitzer age from serial #. I found a copy in the public library reference collection. Hope this is helpful- rgsfield
i own the 26th chickering grand piano made. the serial# is 126 and chickering started making pianos in 1823 starting with serial# 100. took some time to find the number but it is about one inch high and located on the very end of the main frame, the opposite side of the chickering name stamped into the metal in the lower left habde corner wiith also the word Boston
This is not the serial number but, rather, the scale number. The piano, if it looks like anything you have ever seen before, is much older than you suggest. Is it a grand? Robin
From http://www.ptg.org/contactUs-serial.php:
Kimball pianos sometimes have the serial number in a hard-to-find place stamped on the back edge of the keybed.
The majority of pianos have their respective serial numbers on the inside cover, or above the iron plate on the left or right side. The lid will have to be raised to see it.
Check out this website, it gives you diagrams, and information on how to find the serial numbers on your piano. Good luck!

Kohler and Campbell is still very much in business, and I'm sure their website would have a listing of serial numbers that would enable you to pinpoint when you're piano was made.
I'm afraid that's not a valid serial number. The serial number is a 5-7 numbers long code. It can usually be found somewhere at the inside of the piano.
