The starter is located right smack dabb in the front of the engine, half way down behind the radiator,it's plainly visible. unfortunataly, its one of the hardest starters to get at (i was ugly) so unless you've got a garage and tools, take er somewhere and get someone else to do it, if not....its just 3 bolts and a couple wires to disconnect, and lots of beatin 'n trashing!!!
The starter is pretty dificult to get to and the Hayne manual is little to no help. The easiest way to get it out of the car is to remove the battery and the battery holder, along with the radiator fan on that side. With all that removed it is just a matter of undoing the two mounting bolts. The lower of the two you will have to get from underneath. Make sure you have a couple different extensions and a universal joint and you should be fine. I tried following the instruction in the book and found out a better way. With the fan on the battery side out the starter came out easily. Plan for two to three hours of work on it.
