Exploratory robots are used in places where humans can't or shouldn't go.
No we can't robots go on volcanos and stuff but we cant bruh.
It is an artificial intelligence... meaning it can go places or do things humans cant. It can do things such as build microbes or move atoms at amazing accuracy. Robots can also be used to do repetitive things humans do not want to do, like repeatedly assembling car parts for no wages. They can be programmed to do anything the programmer is able to tell it to do.
The invention of robots changed the world because instead of humans having to perform difficult tasks, you could program a robot to do it. Plus, robots have great precision so when they do a task repetitively they will develop better accuracy than a human. They also make life a lot safer for people doing dangerous jobs. Bomb disposal squads can use a robot instead of going to the bomb themselves (they control the robot). And don't forget that robots can go into places that humans can't like Mars (and other planets) and deep ocean depths.
Robots are used everywhere. They can dive deep in the sea where humans cannot go or on dangerous missions that endanger human lives

Human operators have to stay behind thick shielding, so robots are useful in being able to go close to the material, but they are remotely controlled by humans.

noone can actually physically visit the sun by landing on it cuz your spaceship would melt before it even got there. but yes they have sent robots to go get an up close look at the sun, but not too close.
