Currently the iPhone 4S is not compatible with AWS networks such as the "4G" network T-Mobile uses. The only way you can use your iPhone on T-Mobile is this:

1. Purchase an Unlocked iPhone that has a SIM slot (starting at $649). You can buy one at the Apple store, or maybe Radioshack
2. Purchase a SIM card for T-Mobile
3. Slip the T-Mobile SIM card into your phone
4. You will now have acces to T-Mobile's EDGE network
5. If you need help, T-Mobile recently allowed support for an iPhone help page on their website so I hear.

DISCLAIMER: T-Mobile's EGDE network is exremely slow, but you will have an iPhone and that's what really counts.
