Aaron B. Fairbanks (1804 - 1841) was active in Boston from 1826 - 1841. For most of that time, his business as located on Exchange Street in downtown town Boston. Fairbanks was a gun smith who made guns, repaired guns, and sold guns made by others. He also handled all the 'gear' needed by sportsmen and shooters, making his business similar to today's sporting goods store. In 1833, Fairbanks hired John P. Lovell as an apprentice. Lovell worked in the shop until Fairbanks' death in 1841, at which time he carried on the business and ultimately became one of the largest sporting goods dealers in the counry.

Depends on the firearm, and the laws where you are. We can't begin to give you a real answer without more info. In MOST of the US, there IS no registration of ordinary rifles, shotguns, and handguns.
