Where was the Man from Snowy River filmed?

The film "The Man from Snowy River" was based loosely on the A.B. (Banjo) Paterson poem of the same name. It was filmed in the Snowy Mountains, which is a broad and undefined area of the Australian Alps, part of the Great Dividing Range that crosses through the eastern part of Victoria, the southernmost mainland state of Australia.

The specific area of the Victorian high country in which much of the movie was filmed is Merrijig and the area around Mt Buller.
