Maclaren is voluntarily recalling some of their stroller models after receiving 12 reports of children's fingertips being amputated by the hinges of their strollers.
The Maclaren stroller recall are for strollers sold in the US from 1999 through 2009. They include models Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, Techno XLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller.
Owners of the recalled strollers can order a repair kit free of charge from Maclaren.

Why are they being recalled?
In November of 2009 Maclaren strollers were recalled because several incidents were reported in which the stollers hinge was causing finger injuries (at times even amputations). However, strollers produced after May 2010 have a new hinge mechanism that prevents such injury from occurring. Your old strollers, if produced before this date, probably still pose as a hazard. Newer models of the stroller after 2010, however, should be safe to use.
