The yearly South by Southwest (SXSW) festival occurs every March in Austin, Texas. It has three sides: music, film and interactive. Geek Spring Break refers to the interactive (new media/Internet) side of the festival, which gathers many tech savvy folk and is known to be the launch pad of many important ideas (Twitter and Foursquare gained popularity at the festival).
SXSW Interactive will take place on four "campuses" in Austin: Austin Convention Center, the Downtown Austin Hilton, the Courtyard by Marriott and the Radisson.
You can purchase tickets on their website. On-site registration is also an option. Since the event has already started as of this writing, the cheapest ticket (film only) is $550, while the three-event platinum ticket for the film, music, and interactive sessions is $1250. If you mean "how do you get tickets to SXSW 2011 without buying them," then the answer is probably "you don't." There might be a contest sponsored by a local radio station or something, but I don't personally know of any, and as with any contest, you'd have to be extremely lucky to win them anyway. While the interactive session ends today (March 15), the platinum ticket is still $50 cheaper than the combined cost of the film and music tickets, so is a good deal even if you don't plan on going to any of the interactive sessions.
