AIDS has been most devastating to underdeveloped regions of the world.
AIDS is a virus, not a disease. You can only contract AIDS by first having HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus). HIV/AIDScould be considered an epidemic by the millions of people who have died from the virus and our inability to control/cure it. Scientists have never been able to locate where HIV was 'born'.
There has been none in over forty years. The last real pandemic was the flu issue of the early 1900's. We are a world that enjoys crisis. This swine flu is just that. A false crisis. 170 deaths in Mexico (a country of millions) is hardly a problem. The "bird flu" never panned out for people. Aids was upposed to kill us. It did not and is harder to get then claimed at first.
Yes, and children are in one of the groups that have been hardest hit by the pandemic flu. But, that still is a relatively low number of deaths compared to those from the regular seasonal flu. See the related questions below for more information.
Because a type of historical genetic testing of the virus taking into account how the virus changes over time has calculated that HIV has been in humans for perhaps 100 years.
