There are 6 countries that use the Euro, but are not in the EU:

Andorra, Kosovo, Monaco, Montenegro, San Marino and the Vatican.

None of these countries are members of the European Central Bank which runs the Euro, and they cannot issue their own Euros (except from some coins for collectors). In all cases they are using the Euro because they are too small to issue their own currencies.

These 18 EU nations already use the Euro: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. Collectively they are referred to as the Eurozone.

These non-EU nations also use the Euro: Andorra, Kosovo, Monaco, Montenegro, San Marino, and Vatican City.

These EU nations are in the transition stage: Denmark and Lithuania.

*These EU nations do not use the Euro: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Sweden, and United Kingdom.

*Note that several of these nations agreed that they will use the Euro in the future.
