The 27 member states are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom. But the number may be increased. Currently, there are three official candidate countries: Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Turkey. There are also four officially recognized potential candidates: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia. And there's one potential albeit not officially recognized candidate country. For a member state must be independent. And not all of the 27 member states consider Kosovo as a country separate from Serbia.
