Right. Mexico is on the "subtropical" belt, crossed by the Tropic of Cancer, which officially divides the temperate and subtropical zones. In fact, Mexico is 1,650 kilometers (1,025 miles) north of the equator.

The tropical zones lie either side of the Equator and extend to near the temperate zone of south and north.
