Mount Ararat is a snow-capped, craterless, dormant volcano of lava flows that last erupted in 1840. It is the highest mountain in modern-day Turkey, and part of the Armenian Highlands mountain range. Ararat has two peaks, Greater Ararat, and Lesser Ararat or Little Ararat. On a peak in the mountains of Ararat is where the Bible says Noah's Ark landed as the flood waters receded (Genesis 8:4). And an old Armenian tradition corresponds with the biblical account.
Mount Ararat is a twin-cone extinct volcano about one million years old. It is 5,137 metres (16,854 feet) high, so any flood that covered the mountain would have required the entire world to be covered to at least this depth.
It may well have landed right up on the south slope of the main mountain but now (apparently anyways) there is a large and super ancient large boat many miles south of the mountains and just north of the Iran border in Dogubeyazit, Agri, Turkey. This boat object, that has long since melded with the land, has been examined by scientists and geologist using ground penetrating radar and metal detecting equipment in order to verify that it is indeed a large ancient ship matching the Biblical Ark dimensions perfectly. Besides the fact that the great deterioration matches the age it would be if it is indeed the surviving ark from a flood that would have occurred almost 4000 years ago. Now others insist they have seen the ark way up on the peak or a cliff side of the mountain, and photos do reveal a large square box shape sitting just under a rather unreachable ledge. So whether or not this boat object or the box object are the remains of Noah's Ark is still up for debate. Its possible that the top of the boat remained on the mountain and the bottom half or hull slid down during some past great earthquake or volcanic eruption. We do not know for sure. But there are a couple of mysterious objects up on the Mountains of Ararat, that much is very much certain.
We believe that Mt. Ararat is in modern day Turkey. Many people have gone there trying to find the Ark. But the Turkish government doesn't like it, so you have to go when they're not looking.
Additionally, even if Noah's Ark originally rested there, it would have completely rotted by this point in time.

The Bible says that Noah's ark landed on the mountains of Ararat. This does not refer to any specific mountain or peak, but rather a mountain range within the region of Ararat, which was the name of an ancient proto-Armenian kingdom also known as Urartu. Nonetheless, one particular tradition identifies the mountain as Mount Masis, the highest peak in the Armenian Highland, which is therefore called Mount Ararat
