Which end of the oil filter is inserted toward the engine on a yamaha v-star 1100?

If both sides of the filter are the same it should not matter which side goes in First.
If however there is a "lip" on one side as there appears to be at Yamaha Parts then it should go towards the engine as shown in the Diagram for the Oil Cleaner as they call it.
