Answer
Many times we come across people who buy cell phones only to later realize that the particular brand or model does not support applications like downloading ringtones, web surfing etc and does not have the features that they may want. If they might have known beforehand then they could have made their purchase accordingly. So let’s take a look at some cell phone features:
- SMS: This feature is an absolute necessity. Personally I cannot imagine the idea of a cell phone without SMS. It can also be a much better way of communicating especially if the cell number is not available for any reason.
- Hands free operation: Lets you talk on your cell phone through an external earpiece. Very useful if you need your hands to be free. Especially safer and simpler while driving so that you can keep both your hands on the wheel where they should be.
- Lightweight: Most people carry their cell phones with them at all times. If your cell phone is heavy and bulky it can become quite a bother particularly if you keep it in your pocket.
- Polyphonic programmable ringtones: It is the future of ringtones and the next big thing.
- Games: Seems frivolous? It won’t when you are stuck in traffic or in a serpentine queue and need something to help pass your time.
- Visual messaging: Your friends may send you a picture message and you might want to too.
- FM Radio or MP3 Player: In today’s times a gadget cannot survive by just having a singular use. Multi purpose devices are the answer.
- Graphics and logos: You have to be able to download logos and graphics on your cell phone. It will allow you to personalize your cell phone and be hip and cool.
- Internet capabilities: Will allow you to surf the web, send and receive e-mails and very handy if you do not have a computer.
- Camera: Provides instant photographs. Picture quality with digital cell phone cameras is also very good.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of cell phone features. But it should give you a pretty good idea of what to look for when buying a cell phone.
