i have a 2 L vw motor [boxter type}in an off road buggy i'm interested to find which cylinder is number 1
Standing at the rear of the car, 1 is the front, right, side.
Passenger side, behind the manifold.
Right side front. If you know where your starter is, the number 1 cylinder is right next to it.
Passenger side, closest to the front. FRONT 3 1 4 2 BACK
The one closest to the radiator.
When the point are in no 1 position and just closing no 1 piston is up.

when you open the engine cover look at the right side as you stand . no 1 cylinder is the inner one in the side where the starter located.
