Well it really matters if you like it outside or in. A house cat is very good from a scale 1-10 i would give it a 4. An outdoor cat would be as pleasent as well i would give it a 7. I have a cat of my own and she is an in door cat but i let her outside so she could explore the big world then when its getting dark i let her in. I would give it a 5 in the middle fun but also peaceful.

If you would enjoy cleaning a litter box, an indoor cat is great. Indoor cats would need a larger house than outdoor cats, and they would need exersise/play time. Outdoor cats are really much easier, and the only downside is training them. I have an outdoor cat, and he is great.

Cats live longer when kept inside.* They aren't exposed to the health hazards that lurk outside such as diseases from other animals, poisons and toxic chemicals, preditors, or humans who would do them harm. An outdoor cat has a lifespan of 8 to 10 years, where an indoor cat has a lifespan of 20 or more years.

However, there is evidence that suggests that indoor/outdoor cats live longer and happier lives. Cats free to roam, that escape the perils of living (e.g. - predators, disease, automobiles) have a life expectancy of greater than 20 years. It is worth noting that, while outdoor cats do face many challenges, and many of them do not ripen into old age, they have extremely low cancer rates as compared to indoor cats.

Indoor cats, subject to less fresh air, greater toxic loads (off gassing of carpets, walls, etc...), and a mono type diet free of mice and birds, typically do not die of "old age" but rather develop cancers.

That is totally up to you and the personality of your cat. Some cats prefer to stay indoors, while others like to explore outdoors as well. There is no harm keeping a cat inside if you believe it is too dangerous outside, but if you believe the risk is small where you live, then there is nothing wrong in letting your cat outside.

Alternatively, some owners build a cat run in their garden which allows cats to be outdoors, but eliminates the risks of letting a cat roam. Another method is to "walk" your cat on a harness and lead, which also keeps the cat safe and within arms' reach.

Cats should be allowed to go outside. It provides exercise, makes them happier and of course removes the need for a litter tray.

Another Answer

No, a house cat does not "need" to go outside, but of course this depends on the cat's personality, and what the outside environment is like. It is not recommended to allow a cat to go outside if there are busy roads nearby, or the neighborhood is known to be unsafe. If, however, the owner lives in a quiet area with little traffic, then it would be safer for a cat to roam.

Cats can happily spend their time indoors, as long as they are provided with toys, interaction and play throughout the day. In the UK, many cat owners build their cats "cat runs" which is a fenced-off area in the garden so the cat may enjoy the outdoors in complete safety. Others alter their fences so no other cats can come in, providing their cat safety from other cats.

it would depend on which you think would be safer. ex: if your cat's bed is outside then let them sleep outside. if they dont have anything out there and they just want to play leave them inside for safety.

No, cats need to be able to explore and exercise, so keeping a cat in a cage does not allow a cat to behave naturally. Cats can quite happily live a life indoors as well, providing they have plenty of toys and other sources of enrichment and entertainment and places to explore.

Locking one up means that it can't exercise at all. Keeping a cat in a cage for extended periods of time is not fair on the cat, and could cause great amounts of distress and other unwanted behaviour. They should only be caged when travelling.

Inside is safer, but you must ensure your cat has plenty of exercise and physical and mental stimulation, usually achieved by playing with the cat with various toys, and providing it with a scratching tree or post. An indoor cat won't get run over, won't get into fights, won't get chased by dogs, foxes, coyotes or raccoons.

How do I bring an outdoor wild kitten indoors I have an older indoor cat already. What can I do to make sure they get along I don't want to keep the kitten outdoors because the mother cat ignores it.?

They will get along fine. Cats are easier to adapt to a new kitten - compared to dogs. You can bring the kitten inside and maybe put it in a room with the door closed for a few hours. The indoor cat will sniff around and get to know it before you put them together.
