This truly is a matter of opinion.

One could argue that crocheting is easier than knitting because there is only one needle/hook, as opposed to the two needles in knitting.

However, knitting is simpler (there is a difference between "simple" and "easy") than crocheting, having fewer basic stitches and an easier-to-understand material.

The basic stitches in crochet are easier to learn, but are also easy to mess up. The basic knitting stitches are harder to master, but once learned, are more difficult to mess up.

In all, I would recommend that younger children learn to knit, and anyone over the age of 10 to do either, though crocheting might have the advantage, since it usually takes less time to do.

This really is a non-answerable question. Learning is such a personal process, that there is no "right" answer for this question.

If you enjoy doing something, then you often don't think that learning the skill to do it, is very hard to learn. However, if you don't enjoy doing something, then you will probably find that it is difficult to learn.

For example, I always wanted to learn how to crochet. So, I finally went to the Library, and checked out some books about crochet, and taught myself to crochet. I had no desire to learn to knit, even though it would be easy to ask my mother to teach me (as she is a very good knitter). I even tried it once, but I found it difficult--mainly because I really would rather have learned to crochet.

Knitting has basically two stitches: a "knit" stitch and a "purl" stitch.

Crochet has variations on one stitch: how many times you yarn over or add loops to your hook.

Both are fairly easy to learn, and both have their advantages and disadvantages. I would suggest that if you're interested in either, go to your local yarn shop and take classes. Sometimes, JoAnn's, or Hobby Lobby will also have classes. Or try it the way I did, and teach yourself. That way, you can answer for yourself which is easier to learn, or maybe, just maybe, they are BOTH just as easy to learn!

Better for making what? The pattern will tell you whether you need to knit or crochet, so look at patterns, find some you like, then decide which to learn. Crochet Pattern Central is a good place to start.

I think it really depends with what you start with. It took me about the same amount of time to learn how to properly do each of these crafts, but since I started with crochet I tend to crochet a lot faster and with more ease than when I knit. However, I have friends who do both as well but started with knitting and they think that knitting is easier. Knitting has only two basic stitches (knit and purl) while crochet has several different stitches (chain, slip stitch, single, half-double, double, and triple) and both knit and crochet put their basic stitches together in different ways to create different patterns. In terms of cost, they're pretty much the same. If you're looking into which craft you'd rather start with, I suggest doing some searches and see how the two compare in completed projects. Start with the one that you like looking at the most :) There are TONS of YouTube videos that help beginners in both crochet and knitting, so you could hit those up to get a sneak peak at how they compare when actually working on a project!

Whether quilting is easier than crocheting is a choice made by the individual, because each craft requires different skills. A person who finds it difficult to keep an even tension in crochet might find a quilting stitch effortless. Quilting also involves a broader range of skills, from drafting or copying a pattern and planning out block sets to producing even stitches and perfectly matched corners. Technology has also provided more useful tools and sewing machines that can be used for quilting, whereas the crochet hook is much the same today as it was centuries ago.

It may, because when you make a mistake in knitting, you have to knit backwards to fix the problem. With crocheting, you just pull on the yarn and it pulls out the mistake!

Both involve fine motor skills, so either would be easy to learn.

It really depends on who you ask. Some people are crocheters, some are knitters. I do both, and both types can be simple. So, I would just suggest trying both, and see which one you take to.
