This depends on if you are referring to Disney as a company or as a channel. Disney is older then Nickelodeon. The Walt Disney company was founded on October 16, 1923. However, the Disney channel was launched on April 18, 1983. Nickelodeon was originally launched as the channel Pinwheel on December 1, 1977. It changed its name to Nickelodeon on April 1, 1979. Thus making the Nickelodeon channel older then the Disney channel, but not older then Disney the company.

∙ 6y agoNo, Nickelodeon is part of Viacom, not Disney and is often considered somewhat of a rival when it comes to children's programming. Although it's programming history dates back to the late 70's, Nickelodeon truly became popular in the late 80's and early 90's. Nickelodeon was a major part of the Universal Studios theme park in Orlando, Florida which was a rival of Walt Disney World also located in Orlando.
