These trains run at a maximum speed of 125mph and average 112mph between London and York. Other trains that run at a maximum speed of 125mph are the Intercity 125 HST sets operated by National Express East Coast, Great Central, First Great Western, East midlands trains, and soon to be operated by Arriva Cross Country trains. Hull Trains operates a fleet of Class 222 Meridian diesel trains with a mximum speed of 125mph, and are soon to operate a pair of Class 180 diesel trains which also have a top speed of 125mph. Virgin West Coast operates a fleet of 125mph electric Pendolino tilting trains and Clas 220/221 diesel Voyager trains on its London to Glasgow and London to Birmingham/Manchester and Liverpool Routes. These trains regularly average 90-100mph between station stops. Arriva Cross Country operates a fleet of Class 220 and 221 Voyager diesel trains - also with a top speed of 125mph.
