The Vampyre written in 1819 by John Polidori (under the guise of Lord Byron) is the first known book containing only a vampire story. However, poems on the subject had been written up to a hundred years earlier, but whether any were published in their own book (instead of a collection, which would mean it wasn't truly a vampire book) is uncertain.

"The Vampyre" by John Polidori, published in 1819, is often considered the first vampire novel. It was inspired by the same storytelling competition that led Mary Shelley to write "Frankenstein."
