The only mountain range between the Sahara and the coast is the Atlas mountain range of Morocco, in the north west of the area.

It is separated into three groups that are named, from north to south, the Middle Atlas, the High or Grand Atlas, and the AntiAtlas.

This is the only mountain range on the west edge of the Sahara, but there are also the Zemmour hills which are in the south west part of the area.
