How can word choice reinforce stereotypes?

Words such as all and some make a big difference. For instance, if you were to say some Russians like vodka, you would be accurate. If you were to say all Russians like vodka, it would become an untrue blanket statement.

What does stereotypical attitude mean?

Stereotypical means 'a blanket norm'. A stereotypical attitude is one that would be expected from that individual based on specific traits. Here are a few examples of this: 1. A person working in the field of education will have a certain view on salaries paid to teachers. A certain view that is within reasonable parameters. 2. A tax payer not involved in the educational field might certainly, within reasonable parameters, would very likely have a different view on teacher salaries than the person sited in example 1.

4 What is stereotyping and Why is stereotyping a problem?

Stereotyping is when you take ANY group of people and assign or "blanket" them with ANY trait. By "group" I could mean an ethnic group, religious group, people in the same occupation or even people with the same vices i.e. smokers or drugs. To stereotype is to say things like:"Cops are sadistic and abusive.""Smokers are inconsiderate of other people's rights to breathe clean air.""Oh! He's black? Is he a gang member?""Anyone who uses drugs of any kind are untrustworthy liars and thieves.""Christians are morally superior to Atheists."Stereotyping is a problem because it's a judgment made about someone without even knowing them. Really what you're doing is putting the sins of many onto the backs of many more who don't deserve it.

Is there anything you can do to force your 23 year old daughter to get help with her drug addiction?

Not really. They are of age. Now if there is a child involved. You can have the child removed and take over the custody of the child, your grandchild, whether temporary or permanent. Also is your daughter living with you? Well stop! You are just giving her a blanket at home. You are giving her a place to be safe with her addiction. You need to change the locks, put her things on the porch and tell her no more. We are done. She gets violent you can call the police department to have her picked up. You do not have to keep your daughter over your roof if she is doing this and it is disrupting the family organization. She is old enough to know better and if she cannot control her substance abuse then it is no longer on you to help her along with it either. That means no more contact with her. NO more money to her NO help what so ever. change your number on your phone and cell phones. Yes you are letting her go but she needs to be at her lowest point and then maybe she will realize i need help. Yes there is the possibility you will lose contact with her and she will only get worse and maybe die. But this is the only way you can do this to let her realize it is over. You are not going to be her hideout to do her drugs in any longer. And well no there is no way to get her to intervention unless she has a parole officer and she is not doing what she is supposed to be doing on parole. Then you need to contact the parole officer of her doings and it will be taken care of from there they will send out an officer to arrest her. That is the only other way.
