As with all televisions, the "best" is a matter of opinion. Before buying a 3D television, audition as many models as you can. Make sure the glasses are comfortable and make sure the image is clear, realistic and easy to watch.

When you have seen a few models, you will be in a good position to arrive at a decision based on real experience rather than opinions of others.

Can somebody explain the headaches I get from watching a Samsung 3D TV?

You experience a headache because its Shutter glasses 3D TV. It works by sending both images into left and right eye rapidly one at time, which can cause headache and nausea. The shutter glasses also have power batteries in them which make them heavier than the glasses for Cinema 3D. Cinema 3D TV uses polarized 3D glasses just like the theaters so they provide the most natural way to view 3D images resulting in less headaches.

Where can one purchase shutter glasses?

There are lots of places where someone can purchase shutter glasses. Some of these places include; Party City, Walmart, Target, QVC, Amazon, and eBay.

What is the difference between rechargeable and battery free 3D glasses?

There are two types of 3D TV. One is the active type and the other is passive 3D TV. The first one is 'shutter glasses' and the second is 'polarized glasses'. Shutter glasses have a kind of shutter that needs a rechargeable battery. The active glasses last over 100 hours on a single charge these days and are as light as some passive glasses. Depending on the type of 3D television you have you will need one or other type of glasses.

What 3D TV gives you the most theater like 3D movie experience?

LG Cinema 3D is probably the best one to go for if you want a theater-like 3D experience. LG Cinema 3D series use the same technology as the movie theater 3D screens (as opposed to shutter glasses technology in other 3D tvs). LG Cinema 3D uses lightweight, battery free 3D glasses that give you flicker free and crosstalk free images. You can actually use 3D glasses from movie theaters with LG Cinema 3D (you can't with other 3D tvs).

How much are LG Cinema 3D TV glasses?

LG Cinema 3D glasses are really cheap. You can get them for $5-$10 and you can even take one from the movie theater and use at home with LG Cinema 3D.

Which one of Samsung or LG is better when you buy a 3D TV from either of them?

LG Cinema 3D got #1 in a consumer research. Personally, I also think LG Cinema 3D is better than Samsung's any other 3D TVs. Samsung's 3D TVs are active TVs and they use shutter system while LG Cinema 3D is a passive tv withbetter FPS technology. Basically you never have to worry about flickering images and crosstalk with a passive 2D TV. Not only is LG Cinema 3D a flicker free and crosstalk free TV, it also has lightweight and battery free 3D glasses. These 3D glasses are very affordable compared to Samsung's. If you're gonna buy a 3D TV, you might as well buy the one that's flicker free and crosstalk free.

What is the difference between active and passive 3D TVs?

Active 3D TVs use shutter glasses to send images to the left and right eye one at a time very rapidly. This can also cause the viewer to see flickering. Passive 3D TVs use polarized cinema 3D Glasses which sends the 3D image to the eyes simulaneously, allowing viewers to view 3D exactly how we view objects in real life. The glasses for active type 3D TVs are around $100-200 while the cinema 3D glasses for passive TVs are about $10 each.

Are the 3D glasses they sell for home viewing light like the ones at the movies?

If you purchase shutter glasses for active 3D TV models, due to having batteries, will be maybe 3-4 times heavier than the 3D glasses that you wear in the movie theater. Actually there are 3D TVs that use the same 3d technology as at the movies which are as known as Cinema 3D TVs. I heard that a few of electronics companies have released them this year and LG is one of them.

What about the performance for its price Vizio LG or Philips?

I just bought a LG cinema 3D TV 55". It's a little cheaper compared to Samsung, Sony or Panasonic. I think Visio 3D TVs are the cheapest. LG is a passive type TV and glasses are not expensive. Active shutter glasses are more expensive. Ultimately, you will need to experience each model and decide for yourself which one is the easiest and most enjoyable to watch.

I'm new to the 3D scene and was wondering which 3D glasses belong to which passive or active technology.?

Active shutter technology uses battery-charged 3D glasses. Shutter technology means that each one of your eyes receives one image at a time while the other sees a black film. This transferring of images happens so quickly that you don't notice the operation. Passive 3D glasses are battery free and are used with a screen that is split into alternate lines using polarizing film. There is no shutter operation but the effective resolution is reduced to half of the original display resolution.
