Penguins are sea birds and find their food chain in ocean water. A few types of penguins breed on Antarctica's beaches, because there are no land predators. When the chicks have fledged, the birds return to their homes in the sea.

No.

Of the 17 species of penguins, there are only fourspecies which live at Antarctica: Adelie, Emperor, Chinstrapand Gentoo penguins. The Antarctic is not their only range.

Others are found elsewhere within the Antarctic Circle to temperate regions further north, including New Zealand, southern Australia, the Falkland Islands, the Galápagos Islands and the Coastlines of South America and southern Africa

No penguin lives in Antarctica. Penguins are sea birds and thrive there based on their access to its food chain. However, during breeding season, you can find Gentoo, Adelie, Emperor, and Chinstrap animals on Antarctica's beaches. They breed there because there are no land predators.

There are four species of penguins that live and nest on the coast of Antarctica itself, and another three species found on Antarctic and sub-Antarctic islands. None of them actually live within the continent of Antarctica itself.

The true Antarctic species include:

  • Adelie penguins
  • Chinstrap penguins
  • Emperor penguins
  • Gentoo penguins

Penguins do, in fact, live in Antarctica. They do not however live up at the north pole (the arctic), if that is what you may have been thinking.

No. No animal 'lives' in Antarctica. It's too cold there, and there is no food chain.

Penguins are sea birds and find their food chain and thus 'live' in salt water.
