Theodore ( Teddy) Rosevelt
Ole.... Dally
Because Obama is president.
He has said multiple times that he will not run; he also notes that if he WERE the president, the U.S. would probably run out of missiles.
Angels of God From Heaven so bright Watch over my children And guide them right Fold your wings 'round them And guard them with love Sing to them softly From heaven above
As far as I can tell from other sources, a donkey can easily carry 30% of its own weight, and it is said that some donkeys are forced to carry double their weight, but this will probably hurt them alot. I would say 30% is a good rule of thumb.
I'm pretty sure it's, "Speak softly and carry a big stick;" by Theodore Roosevelt.
The first recorded use of the phrase was in a letter Roosevelt wrote to Henry Sprague in 1900. Roosevelt claimed the phrase to be of West African origin, but there is no corroborative evidence of that. It is possible that he coined the phrase and made up the derivation.
What Theodore Roosevelt said was not "walk softly but carry a big stick" as is often mis-quoted. He gave his famous quote during a speech in 1903: There is a homely old adage which runs: "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." If the American nation will speak softly, and yet build and keep at a pitch of the highest training a thoroughly efficient navy, the Monroe Doctrine will go far. Source:mediatinker
Roosevelt was thought of as the first modern president because he was the first to get involved in foreign affairs, with his "Big Stick Policy". Other things he did during his presidency that he is remembered for is his Square deal, Hay-Pauncefote treaty, his corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, and "The Big-Stick Policy" which came upon after Roosevelt said that his motto was "to speak softly and carry a big stick." After this the press named his aggressive foreign policy the "Big-Stick Policy".
No, he said "Speak softly and carry a big stick," referring to his foreign policy. He is also known for coining the phrases, "My hat is in the ring," "Good to the last drop," and "the bully pulpit."
The theory is that leaders strive for peace while also keeping other nations aware of its military power. Teddy Roosevelt said to 'walk softly but carry a big stick". It is something that the US still does today.
Take my hand," she said softly,"and i'll protect you."
John O'Sullivan said that the US destiny was to end world hunger, free the slaves, to carry a big stick, kill Lee Harvey Oswald, kill the Nazis, carry a big stick, and charity for all.
