Army is easier to join. Marines don't accept everyone. Both have tough training but the Marines are tougher on you. After you serve in the Army people are impressed but after you've been a Marine people are really impressed. Just something to think about.
You should also think about what type of military career you want. If you are a good high school student or have a college degree, you can become an officer in the Marines.
Think about the image you believe about each branch of the service. Visit recruiting offices just to chat (not to sign up; remember, recruiters are like sales persons; they want you to join but anything you sign is binding). Ask a lot of questions. Watch videos of real basic training. Don't rely on what you've seen in Hollywood movies. Watch the History Channel and documentaries about the military in action. Know that recruiting videos may not give you all the information you need to know.
