Virginia and Ohio each make claim to eight who were either born there or held public office there. Virgina was the birthplace of the most future Presidents but William Henry Harrison, who was born in Virginia, spent most of his adult life in Ohio.

Ohio has six who lived there as adults whereas Virginia as only five.

Eight born in Virginia: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson.

Seven born in Ohio: Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, William H. Taft and Warren G. Harding.

Five held public office in Virginia: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, John Tyler .

Six held public office in Ohio : William Henry Harrison, Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, William McKinley, William H. Taft and Warren G. Harding.
