Yes footballers get paid for playing for Ireland.
Yes. They are all professionals.
It has only been done twice and only by one county. That was Cork, in 1890 and again in 1990.
Some Gaelic Football players may wear them. They are more commonly worn in Ireland's other main sport, Hurling.
There was no All-Ireland Hurling or Football championship played in 1888, due to what is known as the "American Invasion". In 1888 a lot of Gaelic Football and Hurling players travelled to America and the All-Ireland championships were not held.
That is a complex question to answer. In 1882 an Irish team formed. Northern Ireland only came into existence in 1921 and at that time a separate organisation to look after football in Northern Ireland was formed. There were then two international teams, both taking players from all around Ireland. It was not until 1953, that a restriction was put on the team to only takes its players from within Northern Ireland and for the first time the name Northern Ireland was used for the team.

Hi, Ryan Nelson's debut for New Zealand All Whites was in 1999. He did not play for New Zealand from 2004-2008. He captained the NZ U-23 squad for their first appearance at the Olympics as one of the 3 over-aged players. Nelson captained the New Zealand Football Team, the All Whites when they qualified for the 2010 Football World Cup. Hope this helped :)
