The Sacramento (447 miles long) and the San Joaquin Rivers (330 miles long) are the first and second longest rivers running entirely within California. The California Aqueduct (443 miles long) is a man-made canal that, if it were considered a river, would be the second longest river running entirely within California and make the San Joaquin the third longest river running entirely within California. Whoever wrote that the Columbia and the Colorado Rivers were the answer to this question was mistaken.
The Sacramento River runs from North to South until it meets with the San Juaquine River which runs from South to North the two meet and by simple choise it is said that the San Juaquine dumps into the Sacramento and the Sacramento dumps into the Delta which runs into San Francisco Bay which runs into the Pacific Ocean
