irish Travellers are not gypsys they are a community of theyre own and are celtic in origin, they are an ancient nomadic people of Ireland or Europe, during hard times of struggle in ireland, non TRAVELLERS joined them selves to the nomadic group out of starvation because they knew the Travellers would find work where ever they Travelled. so what we have today is a mixture of real irish Travellers and irish peasents who think they are Travellers but who can only go back in history to about 100 years, and thats why so many irish Travellers give other gypsy/Travellers a bad name with theyre wild and wreckless ways, because they are not Travellers but ordinary irish peasents trying to act like real Travellers but they can't because they have a council estate mentality

Why do all gypsies have an Irish accent?
Gypsies and "Travellers", whom call themselves "gypsies", are entirely different. Gypsies (or "Romany's) are a purebred ancient group of peoples driven out of India hundreds of years ago , settling in Romania, and travelling eventually around Europe, living off the land, making and mending for the general public. Hated universally for their unorthodox way of life. They speak their own language, and rarely marry "out". The stereotypical wagon and horse were Romany. The people on TV programmes, such as Big Fat Gypsy wedding, are NOT Gypsies, but Irish Tinkers, whom came over from Ireland in the 19th century. They were street people, street fighters, opportunists, working fairgrounds, also sharpening knives and shining pots for big houses in cities and towns. Later "hawking" ordinary family homes. They speak with an Irish broag because they are insular and stay within their own group. So diversity of the accent has never evolved, due to their self styled isolation.

I am half gypsy however no one knows i am and even my dad dosn't act it Originally gypsies were indian however they all spread over Europe and south America in 1400 century and have mixed. for example romanian gypsies are usually dark because they have more gypsy indian blood in them however Celtic Irish (fair irish not black irish) are quite light because they only have extremely distant indian blood in them for example 10th great grandad or something. If someone is a gypsy and has the culture ,you can tell by what they wear. Women usually wear crop tops, and also bellydancing is in the culture. Gypsies are also usually very tough due to the traditional male knuckle fighting. Gypsies traditional religion is Catholic. Gypsies are either Caucasian(white), asian or mixed between asian and caucasian.Its rare to gypsies mixed with the black race, as afro-carribean, africans are not gypsies. Gypsy culture is very similar to the Spanish,Irish,Egyptian and Indian culture. Gypsies also usually have large families. All gypsies I know are kind and friendly and the women espiecially are very easy to get on with. They also usually have strict upbringings and are not allowed to loose their virginity before they are married because this is seen as impure and scandalous. Gypsies are also clean and traditionally the women didn't work and only the men did however this has changed slightly over the years. hope this helps!
