Only 144,000 celibate men will be saved at this time. (Those who were not "defiled with women.") Some groups believe this is the sum total of those who will be saved (i.e. enter Heaven), while others believe this is a select group of Jews who will be saved during the 7 year Tribulation; other groups accept variations on these ideas.

Have you noticed that nowhere is said when the angel with the seal has started his mission of sealing the servants of the God Almighty.

In the passage Apostle John writes, "And I heard the the number of them which were sealed and they were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel." (Rev 7:4)

Note the statement; "I heard the number of them 'WHICH WERE SEALED'.

What does it mean?

Even before the vision, the angel has 'sealed' some of the servants of God.

Who are those already got sealed?

In those who are already sealed we are told of a group with a title. The title is "Of the all tribes of children of Israel"

In verse 2 John is speaking of an angel in a mission of sealing the servants of God.

From what the angel shouting aloud ( ".....till we have sealed..". verse 3) we can understand that the angel has not completed his task of sealing of the servants of God at the moment the angel is making that statement.

But the angel with the seal is on an ongoing mission of sealing "servants of God".

So at the time of the angel's proclamation( at the time of John's vision) he has already 'sealed' some and he is in the process of sealing some more.

In that case isn't the 144000 Israelites fall under 'those already sealed?

The Old Testament saints are all sealed and their number is symbolically given as 144000.

Isn't the vision to John enlightening a historic fact that "Those under the title 'of all the tribes of children of Israel' are already sealed" and the angel is still on the process of sealing many more of the "servants of God"?

From the narrations of verse 9 onwards, we can see the great multitude comes under another title, "Those from all the nations...tongue who have washed their robes...in the blood of the Lamb".

I presume that the vision brings to our understanding that the servants of God under the title" Of all the tribes..of Israel" have already been sealed, the number is completed.

Then comes another title, Of all the nations...who have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb" and the angel is still on the mission of sealing them, their number is said to be "No man could number".

The angel proclaims an important announcement that there would come a time when he complete his task and then only the four angels with the power to hurt the earth and the enviornments can begin with their mission.

The angel is still on his mission.

The 144,000 recorded in The Bible book of Revelation are the selected few who will go to heaven. Luke 12:32 also refers to them as the little flock. The answer is indicated by the fact that after mention of the definite number 144,000, Revelation 7:9 refers to a great crowd, which no man was able to number. so if the number 144,000 were not literal it would lack meaning as a contrast to the great crowd. viewing the number as literal agrees with Jesus statement at Mathew22:14 regarding the kingdom of the heavens. "There are many invited, but few are chosen."
