Who create the Internet?

No one person or alien created the internet. Instead it grew organically from it's humble beginnings to what it is today.

Initially a group of computer scientists created a system of comunication that allowed computers to talk to one another over the phone lines. This project was funded by the military in order to create a centralized data collection system that would allow information to be quickly stored in one place in case of attack.

They also found that they could link computers together to preform calculations faster. This made it possible to do things like quickly calculate the trajectory of a rocketship in the space program.

Scientists and universities started using the system to send files to each other. A simple email system was created to make communication easier. a Satellite (telnet) was launched to allow communication across the country.

As university students graduated, they brought their knowledge of the internet into the business world. In the early 1990's, Internet Explorer and Netscape came on the scene. With HTML, companies could set up websites to promote their businesses. From here, the internet kept growing until it has become what it is today.
