Johnson was never nominated for President. He became president because he was the vice-president when Lincoln died. He became a candidate for vice-president at the request of Lincoln. He received votes in the early ballots at the Democratic Convention in 1868 trailing George Pendlelton and Winfield Hancock but Horatio Seymour eventually won the nomination.

Andrew Johnson didn't run for President.

I am not sure what election you are asking about. Johnson never ran for President, but was Lincoln's running mate in 1864, was elected vice-president and became president when Lincoln was killed. The Civil War was going on in 1864, so the political parties were badly disrupted. Lincoln and Johnson ran for the Republican based National Union Party The opposition party, which opposed the war and sought a peaceful settlement with the South, ran Gen. George McClellan for president and ex-Gov. Thomas Seymour(CT) for vice-president. You might say that Seymour was Johnson's opponent. His opponents for the party nomination were VP Hannibal Hamlin, Gen Benjamin Butler, Sen. Daniel Dickinson (NY) and Gen. Lovell Rousseau.

In 1868, Johnson joined the newly reconstituted Democratic Party and was mentioned as one of several possible candidates, but was not a popular president and did not get the nomination. Horatio Seymour, former governor of New York eventually won the nomination to run against Grant.
