The Embargo Act didn't help anyone with trade and that hurt America more than it did Spain and France. The Non-Intercourse Act helped the U.S. states with trade and didn't help Spain or France.
The reason why OPEC placed an embargo on oil was because there were boarder issues between Israel and Syria and Egypt. They actually placed the embargo only on countries that supported Israel: the Netherlands & the USA. Israel & the USA were causing so much of a rucus, OPEC wanted to show who was actually in control because oil was in such high demand and OPEC could hurt the USA & the Netherlands & Israel just as much as they could help 'em. sorry, no one was answering and I actually knew the answer. (no need to thank me.)
An alliance with Russia would help prevent America from invading or interfering with his communist dictatorship over Cuba.
He didn't necessarily hate Fidel Castro, but America thought that Fidel was a communist, and because of Cuba was right next to America, they thought that is was "communism on their door step". Fidel was quite chummy with Khrushchev but NOT communist, and when America stopped trading with them, Khrushchev offered to step in and help them. Thi lead to Fidel becoming communist, and because Cuba was so close to America, they considered this as a sign that communism was spreading.
During the Cold War, Cuba and the US were on opposite sides of the conflict. The US also directly threatened Cuba on several occasions. It supported the failed Bay of Pigs invasion by Cuban dissidents, and it blockaded Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Fidel Castro
Cuba.
Did America help Ukraine?
The president of Cuba is currently Fidel Castro. Fidel is now sick and has turned to his brother Raul Castro for help. In this very moment Fidel is guiding Raul on what to do!! Think of Raul as the vice president. P.S. Fidel has led a dictatorship for at least ten years or more! What we can find here in America is usually unreachable to Cubans. Cuba has disrupted and . destroyed little by little thanks to Fidel :(
Already as a kid, castro was in contact with the poor. he wanted to help them. he wanted to change Cuba. he wanted to be mighty and important. he wanted cuba to be communistic. he didnt really haave a motivation.
It caused a lack of goods for them and they had fewer people to help fight the Americans.
I have heard directly from a former US Army Special Forces operative that we DID aid Castro in the early days as Batista was less and less willing to yield to US pressure. Of course Castro soon turned on us and the rest is well, history...
