Castro being a communist is what cause the alliance between Cuba and Russia, no incidents.
Brutal dictators aren't "allowed" to come to power, they force their way into it. A few prime examples who took over after World War II: Iraq's Saddam Hussein, Cuba's Fidel Castro, the Kim dynasty in North Korea, the Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran, Mullah Mohammed Omar in Afghanistan, and Romania's Nicolae Ceaucescu.
Fidel Castro came to power promising free elections and reinstateing the Cuban constitution of 1940. He gained popular vote to oust Fluengio Batistas 8 years of Dictatorship. Fidel Castro also made it know that he "was not a Marxist" severe Soviet style persecution began as people who struggled and created the revolution did not do so in the name of Marxism and communism. Huber Matos, Camilio Cienfuegos were generals of the Cuban revolution and were eliminated by Fidel. Popular uprisings after Fidel declared Cuba communist in 1962 lead to blood shed in the Escambray mountains when rations of groups try to over come the misguided revolution of Fidel Castro. By then the Soviets and the Americans were too heavily involved and hundreds of thousands of Cubans began to defect and migrate.
Mostly from United States and Cuba before Castro.
