The wicked witch was melted by water in the end and her evil sister had a house dropped on her in the beginning. So 2 people died in the story.
There is a story about one of the munchkins hanging themselves on the set of the movie but that is false.

No, no one died during the filming of the beloved 1939 movie version of 'The Wizard of Oz'. But Christian Rudolph Buddy Ebsen, Jr. [April 2, 1908-July 6, 2003] almost did die. Ebsen originally was scheduled to play the Scarecrow. But Raymond Wallace Bolger [January 10, 1904-January 15, 1987], who originally was scheduled to play the Tin Woodman, managed to switch parts.
Ebsen ended up having a serious reaction to the toxic aluminum powder in the make-up for the part of the Tin Woodman. He had to be hospitalized, from the irritation to his skin, and because of the coating of his lungs with the inhaled particles. Even though Ebsen had done nine days' worth of filming before his hospitalization, he lost the role to John Joseph ka Jack Haley, Jr. [August 10, 1898-June 6, 1979]. So Ebsen's involvement with the film ended with his hospitalization. In fact, all of the scenes in which he had been filmed were redone with Haley.
Answer #2
No. This is a myth. Live animals were brought on the set to be in the background during some scenes. In one of these scenes, a moving animal was mistaken as a little person hanging.
No. This is an urban myth. Some people claim a little person commited suicide in the background of a scene. IT DID NOT HAPPEN. What did happen? Live animals were brought in to be in the background for some scenes. The scene in question shows one of these animals moving around. Little person actors from the film have said in interviews that no one committed suicide.
Both Wicked Witches, East and West and maybe a flying monkey or two.
There are several minor, midget actors and actresses still living, Munchkins, for example.
Both wicked witches (East and West) died.
the wicked witch of the west does not die she just does a spell to fake the melting she reappears in the movie/play wicked
2 people died... The Wicked Witch of the East was killed under Dorothy's house after the hurricane and The Wicked Witch of the West was killed from water, for she was made of brown sugar.

Jack Dolsen died, but Leonardo DiCaprio hasn't.
For the most part, it was filmed on location in New York City, although parts of it may have been filmed at a movie studio; I'm not sure. Actually, the reason my family got interested in this movie (and the Die Hard series in general) is my mom watched a lot of it being filmed, as she worked at the next building over from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She could see them filming scenes from her window, and she would have to walk by the set to get her lunch.
Scenes in movies are rarely filmed in the order in which they appear. Brandon Lee was killed during the filming of the scene that Shelly is being raped. When Eric Draven enters the appartment, and Funboy shoots him. However his actual death is not shown in the movie.
