In 1909, the Croatian scientist Andrija Mohorovičićdiscovered the boundary between the crust and the mantle he found the depth between 30 to 35 km below the surface.
Moho was identified through seismograms observation from shallow focus earthquakes having two sets of waves. P-waves followed a direct path near the surface of the earth but S-waves got refracted by a high velocity medium. The layer below the crust and above upper mantle termed as Mohorovicic Discontinuity is called Moho.
A self-descending tungsten capsule heated by radiogenic heat to explore the interior of Earth near the Moho discontinuity and in the upper mantle is being considered by Japan and others for full discovery .
The discovery efforts aimed at reaching the discontinuity through US project Mohole and Soviet Union project after identification by Croatian Seismologist in 1909 still remains an important scientific objective.

Mohorovicic
Andrija_Mohorovičić (1857-1936) was a Croatian seismologist and meteorologist who theorized the boundary layer between the Earth's crust and its mantle, now known as the Mohorovicic Discontinuity (aka Moho).
The Moho , short for Mohorovicic discontinuity , is about 7 kilometers below the floor of the ocean and the MANTLE is the layer immediately beneath the Moho !
Andriza Mohorovicic discovered the Mohorovicic discontinuity popularly known as Moho It is the boundary between the crust and the mantle it is about 2,880 kilometers thick. it is the thickest part of the earth's layer
the Mohorovicic (Moho) discontinuity
The Moho discontinuity is 31 miles/50KM thick.
ummm hello! its just the moho layer! the moho layer is the boundary between the mantle and the crust!there is absolutely no boundary between the moho layer and the mantle! you think i am wrong? then drill to the moho layer and find out!

False. Directly below the Moho is the mantle, as the Moho marks the boundary between the crust and the mantle.
