Charles Fort coined the phrase in some of his varied writings. He did not come up with any theoretical scheme, plans oir anything like that. The research tasking involved in Mr.lFort"s books precludes any (Date line) chronology- and he used many old and varied sources, old magazines, newspapers, etc. his compendiums such as Book of the Damned came out commercially in the l920"s. Fort died in l93l. his books and ideas are still popular with a (Cult) public rather like Edgar Cayce, the so-called Sleeping Prophet.
