The Purple Heart is awarded to any military personnel that have been wounded in combat. The wound must be the direct result of enemy action. It must also be severe enough to require medical attention or result in death.
No list exists containing the names of all PH recipients during the Korean War. The war lasted for several years, and thousands were wounded or killed in combat. All received the PH Medal for their wounds.

I am not aware of the Purple Heart ever being made with pure gold. The medallion that is made today is actually a brass core that has been anodized to the gold color.
Green Heart or Purple Heart
Normally it means Bronze Star Medal & Purple Heart. In Vietnam, a Bronze Star Medal could be given for EITHER Meritorius or Heroism. If it was awarded for Heroism, then the medal comes (on written orders) with a "V" device (which is attached to the cloth portion of the medal or attached to the ribbon). Most US servicemen always wore the ribbon; they seldom if ever wore the medals.

Absolutely if injured or death during declared war. And, during the Cold War era, most did earn Purple Hearts; Huey door gunners had the second shortest life expectancy of all Army and Marine MOS'es.

The Purple Heart is currently awarded to military personnel wounded in action. Originally it was awarded for valor. The first three were personally awarded by George Washington. His likeness is now found on the medal.
The Purple Heart is our nation's FIRST medal; and General Washington did state, "...that it's amazing what men will do for a simple piece of purple cloth..."(purple cloth was the first purple heart medal). States "might" not publish a list of Purple Heart recipients for public review, and any list you might find on the web are most likely "voluntarily submitted" names. Which means that a lot of men who don't use the computer won't have their names listed.
