Who has the most goals in one game? |
[Edit] |
Answer
Sittler was the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs at the time, and he scored a total of 10 points in one game. The owner of the team, Harold Ballard, presented him with a Sterling Silver Tea service, engraved with the details of his feat, later in the season. Mr Sittler donated the set to the Hockey Hall Of Fame, in Toronto, where it is on permanent display.
Answer
Darryl Sittler did not ever score 9 goals in the NHL. I don't know if he ever did it in junior or some other league, but definitely not the NHL. The person mentioned Harold Ballard so that means that the person was obviously referring to the NHL. Sittler, however, did record 10 points in one NHL game and that was the most ever.
In the NHL, Joe Malone holds the record with 7 goals in one game accomplished in the 1920's. As far as scoring most goals ever in a hockey game.... That's a tough one. It depends on the league you're looking at. I mean, does pee wee, bantam, junior, and beer leagues count? I can imagine that depending on the league, there's no real straight up answer. I'm guessing it's pee wee simply because Gretzky got something like 385 goals in like 70 games as a 10 year old.
