The Yardbirds, Jimi Hendrix and The Who come to mind. Led Zeppelin had several different influences. The Yardbirds, in a completely different incarnation, became Led Zeppelin. Only Jimmy Page was an original member. They're definitely a big influence. Others would be Chicago and Delta blues singers like Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters. Also, British folk rock muscians like Bert Jansch, John Fahey and Fairport Convention. Plus a little influence from late 60's California psychedelic bands like Spirit and Moby Grape. And - a bit of rockabilly.

Ozzy's first inspiration to start a career in the Rock 'n' Roll business was The Beatles. He became fascinated by them and decided to start his own band. He was also influenced by the local rock scene that he was around, which included a new style of heavy, dark blues that his first 'real' band, Black Sabbath, transformed. Black Sabbath (with the help of Toni Iommi's innovative riffs, Geezer Butler's lyrics and Ozzy Osbourne's vocals) developed their own style of music that was not present at the time.

They took influence from Blues, Jazz, Rock n' Roll.. Ozzy Osbourne himself was playing bass in a band called Magic Lanterns prior to the formation of Black Sabbath. The band claims that the name Black Sabbath came from a Mario Bava film by the same name, although some dispute this, and claim it was taken from a song by the same name on Coven's "Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls" album, released in 1969. The people who make this claim also tend to point out that Coven had a bassist by the name of Os Osbourne, and also claim that this is what inspired John Michael Osbourne to start calling himself "Ozzy".
