The first Clarinet was invented by Johann Christoph Denner in the early 18th century. Although historical writings state that he just improved the chalumeau, there is no real evidence to back this theory. One writer believed that he was the inventor so he wrote that he was. Subsequently other writers repeated this unfounded information in their writings word for word.
